Sant Antonino

Sant'Antonino is a hilltop village in Haute-Corse, in the Balagne region, set inland between Calvi and Île-Rousse. Recognised as one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France, it sits atop a rocky outcrop over 500 metres high, offering sweeping views across the Reginu valley and, on clear days, out to the Mediterranean Sea. Its stone architecture, narrow stepped lanes and vaulted passageways reflect a medieval heritage, with foundations possibly dating back to Genoese rule. Largely pedestrianised, the village is best explored on foot and features a handful of craft shops and stalls selling local produce, including Balagne cheese and honey. The surrounding countryside is known for its vineyards and olive oil. Sant'Antonino makes a peaceful base for discovering Balagne, combining coastal beaches with typical villages such as Pigna and Corbara nearby. Access is via a winding road up from the plain, with parking usually available at the foot of the village. The Mediterranean climate brings hot, dry summers, ideal for hiking in the hinterland as well as time spent by the sea close by.
