St-Suliac

St-Suliac is a Breton village in Ille-et-Vilaine, on the banks of the Rance river, close to Saint-Malo and Dinard. Recognised as one of the ‘most beautiful villages in France’, it retains a distinctive stone-built heritage, with narrow lanes and a historic church at its heart. The village is centred around a small oyster-farming harbour opening onto the Rance estuary, where old stone fish traps still stand as remnants of a long-standing local fishing tradition. The coastal footpath, once used by customs officers, leads up to Mont Garrot, a viewpoint offering sweeping views over the Rance and its estuary. The surrounding countryside combines farmland and wetlands, making it a pleasant spot for walking and birdwatching. Its location makes St-Suliac a convenient base for exploring the Emerald Coast, with the walled town of Saint-Malo around twenty minutes away, and Dinard and Dinan also within easy reach. The area's mild, oceanic climate allows for outdoor activities throughout the year, though summer remains the most popular season for visiting and exploring the coastline.
