St-Romain-de-Monpazier

St-Romain-de-Monpazier is a small rural village in the Dordogne department, in the Périgord Pourpre area, lying close to Monpazier, a medieval bastide town listed among the most beautiful villages in France. The surrounding countryside is typically hilly, combining woodland, meadows and farmland, making it well suited to walking and cycling. The wider area is home to several bastide towns and châteaux characteristic of south-west France, along with villages built from the region's golden limestone. The temperate oceanic climate, with warm summers and mild winters, allows for outdoor activities for much of the year. Local gastronomy reflects classic Périgord produce, including walnuts, strawberries, foie gras, confit dishes and truffles, often found at nearby markets such as the one in Monpazier.
