Lido di Pomposa

Lido di Pomposa is a seaside resort on the Adriatic coast of Emilia-Romagna, in the province of Ferrara, north of the Po Delta. It forms part of the Lidi di Comacchio, a group of seven coastal resorts known for their long, fine sandy beaches and shallow waters, well suited to families with children. The town takes its name from the nearby Pomposa Abbey, a renowned medieval Benedictine monastery a few kilometres inland, whose Romanesque bell tower ranks among the region's most notable religious landmarks. The surrounding area, shaped by the wetlands of the Po Delta Park, offers opportunities for hiking, birdwatching and cycling along dedicated cycle paths. Local cuisine highlights the produce of the delta's fishing traditions, particularly eel, alongside fresh Adriatic seafood. The resort offers a range of accommodation, including campsites, flats and villas, catering mainly to summer family holidays. The atmosphere remains quieter than in larger neighbouring resorts such as Rimini, set within a well-preserved natural landscape between sea and lagoon.
