St-Jean-de-la-Rivière

St-Jean-de-la-Rivière is a small village in the Manche department (postcode 50270), on the west coast of the Cotentin Peninsula, close to the seaside resort of Barneville-Carteret. It borders one of Normandy's largest dune systems, the Hattainville-Biville dunes, partly protected as a nature reserve for its distinctive flora and fauna. This wild setting attracts those who enjoy long walks along the sand and wind-based activities such as sand yachting, popular on the area's broad, breezy beaches.
