Porspoder

Porspoder is a village in Finistère, on the northern coast of the Léon region, facing the Sea of Iroise, which is designated a UNESCO biosphere reserve. The village stretches along a rocky shoreline dotted with small coves and sandy beaches, such as Melon Beach, popular for swimming and coastal walks. The GR34 coastal path runs through the area, offering open views over the Atlantic and linking Porspoder on foot to neighbouring villages in the Pays d'Iroise. The region enjoys an oceanic climate, with winds strong enough to attract enthusiasts of sand yachting and kitesurfing. Coastal fishing and seaweed harvesting remain part of local tradition, rooted in the maritime history of the Léon coast. Nearby, Pointe de Corsen and the Trézien lighthouse, a few kilometres away, reflect the long-standing importance of navigation in these waters, known for the strong currents of the Four and Ouessant straits. Porspoder makes a quiet base for exploring the Abers coast and Le Conquet, combining unspoilt nature with Brittany's maritime heritage.
