Nisportino

Nisportino, also known as Nisporto, is a small coastal hamlet on the north-eastern shore of the Island of Elba, in Tuscany's province of Livorno. This quiet spot is known for its unspoilt natural setting, with a small bay framed by wooded hills and a shingle beach valued for its peacefulness, away from the island's busier resorts. It particularly suits those keen on nature and walking, thanks to trails linking the coast to neighbouring villages such as Rio nell'Elba. Nearby Portoferraio, Elba's main town and the arrival point for ferries from Piombino, offers easy access to shops, restaurants and historic sites connected to Napoleon Bonaparte's exile on the island. The clear, uncrowded sea is well suited to swimming, diving and sailing. A mild Mediterranean climate, gentle in winter and warm in summer, makes the area pleasant for much of the year. Nisportino remains a low-key base from which to discover Elba beyond its more famous resorts, combining nature, sea and history in equal measure.
