Plougastel-Daoulas

Plougastel-Daoulas is a commune in Finistère, Brittany, set on a peninsula between the Brest roadstead and the Elorn estuary. It is well known for strawberry growing, a long-standing local tradition reflected in the town's dedicated strawberry museum. The calvary of Plougastel-Daoulas, built in the early 17th century, ranks among Brittany's most notable religious monuments, featuring an extensive series of carved scenes. The town is linked to Brest by the Albert-Louppe bridge and the Iroise bridge, both offering views over the roadstead. The coastline, dotted with coves and small beaches, is well suited to walking along the GR34 coastal path, nature watching and water sports. Oyster and shellfish farming remain traditional activities in the sheltered waters of the bay.
