Plomeur

Plomeur is a commune in Finistère, located in the Pays Bigouden area, close to Pont-l'Abbé and a short drive from the city of Quimper. Its Atlantic coastline is one of its main draws, most notably the Pointe de la Torche, a well-known spot for surfing and land yachting thanks to its exposure to strong winds. The surrounding sandy beaches, such as Pors Carn, offer plenty of space for walking and outdoor activities. The commune retains a distinctly rural, agricultural character typical of the Pays Bigouden, with hedgerow landscapes and farmland. The wider region is also recognised for its cultural heritage, including traditional costumes and embroidered lace headdresses, still seen at local events. Plomeur provides convenient access to other coastal sites in southern Finistère, such as Penmarc'h with its Eckmühl lighthouse, as well as the coves along the Bay of Audierne. The temperate oceanic climate makes it a pleasant destination for much of the year, with visitor numbers picking up in summer. It serves as a practical base for exploring coastal Brittany while enjoying the calm of the surrounding countryside.
