Pleumeur Bodou

Pleumeur-Bodou is a small town in the Côtes-d'Armor department of Brittany, set along the Pink Granite Coast near Trégastel and Perros-Guirec. It is best known for the Cité des Télécoms, a science and heritage site built around the famous Radome, the large dome that once housed the antenna used for the first transatlantic satellite television broadcast in 1962. The Planétarium de Bretagne, also located here, adds to the town's scientific appeal. The commune includes Île Grande, linked to the mainland by a bridge, offering an unspoilt landscape of dunes, heathland and small rocky coves typical of the Breton coastline. The coastal path (GR34) runs through the area, allowing walkers to follow the shoreline past pink granite boulders and sweeping sea views. The surrounding beaches are generally quiet and family-friendly, well suited to swimming and gentle walks. Its proximity to Trégastel and Perros-Guirec makes it easy to explore other well-known spots along the Pink Granite Coast. Pleumeur-Bodou combines a distinctive scientific heritage with unspoilt nature and a peaceful atmosphere, away from the busier tourist resorts nearby.
