Pléneuf-Val-André

Pléneuf-Val-André is a town in the Côtes-d'Armor department of Brittany, on the Côte d'Émeraude (Emerald Coast). It is known for its long sandy beach, one of the largest in Brittany, lined by a seafront promenade and Belle Époque villas built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The harbour of Dahouët, once a cod-fishing port and now a small marina and coastal fishing harbour, remains active in scallop fishing, a local speciality. The Pointe de Pléneuf and the GR34 coastal footpath, known as the customs officers' path, allow visitors to walk along the shoreline with views over the Île du Verdelet, a bird sanctuary accessible on foot at low tide. The town also has one of Brittany's oldest golf courses, laid out in the 1930s. The mild oceanic climate, with gentle summers and moderate winters, supports outdoor activities throughout the year, including walking, sailing, land yachting and shellfish gathering. The town centre offers shops, markets and seafood restaurants, giving it the relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere typical of Brittany's coastal resorts.
