Pianottoli-Caldarello

Pianottoli-Caldarello is a commune in the south of Corsica, in the island's Extreme South, lying between Bonifacio and Sartène. The area stretches from an inland landscape of maquis scrubland and granite outcrops down to a rugged coastline of coves and fine sandy beaches, fringed by the clear waters typical of this part of the island. The hamlet of Tonnara, with its small harbour, serves as a base for water sports and local fishing. The region is known for its quiet beaches, less crowded than those of nearby Bonifacio, and for its scenic coastal walks and swimming spots. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers, supports a seaside-focused summer tourism. The surrounding countryside also offers a chance to explore the characteristic Corsican maquis vegetation and take in views over the rocky shores typical of the Extreme South. Its proximity to Bonifacio makes it easy to combine a beach holiday with visits to better-known heritage sites, while still enjoying a more unspoilt and authentic setting.
