Nerja

Nerja is a seaside resort on the Costa del Sol, in the province of Málaga, Andalusia. Its best-known landmark is the Balcón de Europa, a clifftop viewpoint offering panoramic views over the Mediterranean, built on the site of a former fort. The town grew from a traditional fishing village, and this heritage is still reflected in the whitewashed streets of the old town. A few kilometres away, the Nerja Caves (Cueva de Nerja) form one of the region's major attractions, a vast network of natural caverns adorned with stalactites and stalagmites, open to regular guided tours. The coastline combines small coves with larger beaches, such as Burriana, lined with beach bars serving fresh fish and traditional Andalusian dishes. Nearby, towards the village of Maro, the landscape features cliffs and protected natural areas well suited to walking. The mild Mediterranean climate supports a tourist season spread across much of the year, with peak numbers in summer. Nerja remains a popular destination thanks to its blend of local heritage, natural surroundings and coastal life.
