Loupiac

Loupiac is a small wine-growing village in the Gironde department, on the right bank of the Garonne river opposite Cadillac, within the Premières Côtes de Bordeaux vineyard area. It gives its name to the Loupiac appellation, known for its sweet white wines made from Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle grapes, in the same tradition as the dessert wines produced nearby in Sainte-Croix-du-Mont and Sauternes. The landscape features rolling vine-covered hillsides with views over the Garonne valley. The village is home to several wine estates, including Château de Ricaud, which reflects the area's winemaking heritage, along with a church of Romanesque origin. Loupiac offers a peaceful rural setting, ideal for walks through the vineyards and visits to local wine cellars for tastings. Bordeaux city lies around 30 kilometres away, making it easy to combine a countryside stay with trips into the metropolitan area. The region's temperate oceanic climate brings mild summers and lush greenery throughout the year, typical of the rural Bordeaux countryside.
