Alcocéber/Alcossebre

Alcocéber/Alcossebre is a coastal resort on the Costa del Azahar, in the province of Castellón, within the Valencian Community. Part of the municipality of Alcalà de Xivert, it stretches along several kilometres of fine sandy beaches and small rocky coves, such as Las Fuentes and El Moreno, known for their clear waters. To the north lies the Serra d'Irta Natural Park, a protected area ideal for coastal walks and spotting Mediterranean wildlife. On clear days, the volcanic Columbretes Islands, a designated nature reserve, can be seen offshore. The village retains the remains of a medieval castle overlooking the bay, a reminder of the coast's defensive past against Barbary raids. The atmosphere here is generally quieter and more family-orientated than in busier Valencian resorts, with a focus on water sports, diving and fishing. The Mediterranean climate, mild in winter and warm in summer, allows for visits across much of the year. Local cuisine tends to highlight fresh seafood and traditional Valencian rice dishes, reflecting the area's coastal and agricultural roots.
