Le Bono

Le Bono is a small village in the Morbihan department, set on the banks of the Auray river, just a few kilometres from the Gulf of Morbihan. It is best known for its former suspension bridge, built in the 19th century, which spans the river and links the village to the neighbouring commune of Plougoumelen. Now used as a footbridge, it remains one of the village's most distinctive features, offering pleasant views over the boats moored along the riverbanks. The harbour area, with its granite houses and narrow lanes, retains the charm typical of coastal Breton villages. Le Bono also lies close to the prehistoric site of Petit Mont and the Kerzerho alignments in Carnac, making it a convenient base for exploring the region's megalithic heritage. Its proximity to Auray and Vannes makes it easy to reach the main tourist attractions around the Gulf of Morbihan. The mild oceanic climate and surrounding countryside, a mix of marshland and woods, are well suited to walking or cycling along the coastal paths.
