Vinci

Vinci is a small town in Tuscany, in the province of Florence, globally known as the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci in 1452. The medieval town, overlooked by the Conti Guidi castle, houses the Museo Leonardiano, which displays reconstructions of the machines and inventions devised by the celebrated artist and engineer. A few kilometres from the centre lies Anchiano, the hamlet where Leonardo's birth house stands, now open to visitors. The town lies at the foot of Montalbano, a hilly, wooded area ideal for walking and hiking, offering views over the surrounding Tuscan countryside. The historic centre retains its medieval character, with narrow lanes and stone buildings typical of the region. Vinci is within easy reach of Florence, Empoli and Pisa, making it a convenient base for exploring Tuscany. The area is also noted for its olive oil and wine production, traditional crops of the local landscape. The Mediterranean climate brings hot, dry summers and mild winters, making it suitable for visits throughout the year.
