Lancieux

Lancieux is a coastal town in the Côtes-d'Armor department of Brittany, on the Emerald Coast, close to Saint-Briac-sur-Mer, Dinard and Saint-Cast-le-Guildo. It is best known for its long, sandy beach facing the Île des Ébihens, popular for swimming and low-tide walks. The town is also home to a protected regional nature reserve, the Lancieux dunes, an area of heathland and dunes running along the shoreline that draws walkers and birdwatchers alike. The village itself retains a traditional Breton character, with its stone church and houses. Lancieux makes a convenient base for exploring the wider Emerald Coast, including the nearby resorts of Dinard and Saint-Cast-le-Guildo, as well as the historic walled town of Saint-Malo, around twenty minutes away. The area's temperate oceanic climate and the notably large tidal range typical of this part of Brittany shape everyday life here, with watersports, shellfish gathering at low tide and coastal walks along the GR34 footpath all part of the local rhythm.
