Tarragona, on Catalonia's Costa Daurada, is a city defined by its rich Roman heritage, recognised by UNESCO as the Archaeological Ensemble of Tarraco. The Roman amphitheatre, overlooking the Mediterranean, and the Roman circus reflect its historical significance under the Empire. The old town, known as Part Alta, retains ancient walls accessible via the Passeig Arqueològic, alongside a medieval cathedral blending Romanesque and Gothic styles. The Rambla Nova, the city's main promenade lined with cafés, leads to the Balcó del Mediterrani, a popular viewpoint over the sea.
