St Carles de la Ràpita

Sant Carles de la Ràpita is a coastal town in the province of Tarragona, Catalonia, located at the southern tip of the Ebro Delta on the shores of the Alfacs Bay. The town's current name dates back to the 18th century, in honour of King Charles III, and it grew around a still-active fishing port well known for its mussel and oyster farming, both widely served in the area's seafood restaurants. Its proximity to the Ebro Delta Natural Park, a protected wetland home to abundant birdlife, makes it a popular base for birdwatching and boat trips through the surrounding rice paddies. The sandy spit of Punta de la Banya and the nearby Trabucador beach draw windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts, thanks to the region's steady winds. The Mediterranean climate, warm in summer and mild in winter, supports outdoor activities throughout the year.
