Deltebre

Deltebre is a municipality in the province of Tarragona, Catalonia, located at the heart of the Ebro Delta, one of the most significant wetland areas in the western Mediterranean. The town extends across much of the Ebro Delta Natural Park, a landscape shaped by the river's branches and by extensive rice paddies that define much of the region's scenery. This natural setting attracts birdwatchers, as the delta is home to numerous bird species, including flamingos, particularly around its lagoons and protected areas. Nearby beaches, such as Riumar, are valued for their calm atmosphere and relatively unspoilt surroundings. Boat trips along the Ebro River allow visitors to explore the river mouth and the wider delta landscape. Local cuisine centres on rice, grown throughout the area, along with fish and seafood from the lagoons. The Mediterranean climate, warm in summer and mild in winter, makes the area suitable for visits throughout the year, with peak activity during the summer months.
