Terracina

Terracina is a coastal town in Lazio, in the province of Latina, set along the Tyrrhenian Sea near the Circeo promontory. Founded in Roman times, it retains several traces of this heritage, notably the Temple of Jupiter Anxur, whose remains overlook the town from Monte Sant'Angelo and offer views across the coastline. The historic centre is arranged around Piazza del Municipio, home to San Cesareo Cathedral, built upon the foundations of an ancient Roman temple. The famous Via Appia also runs through the town. The harbour supports both fishing and pleasure boating, while the coastline offers sandy beaches popular during the summer months.
