Peschici

Peschici is a small coastal town in the Gargano area of Puglia, perched on a rocky headland overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Its historic centre, with narrow whitewashed lanes typical of southern Italy, is built around a medieval castle and houses set along the cliff edge. The town is known for its trabucchi, traditional wooden fishing structures once used to catch fish directly from the shore, some of which now operate as seasonal dining spots. Nearby, several sandy and pebble beaches can be found, including San Nicola and Manaccora, along with coves reachable by boat or via coastal footpaths. Peschici lies close to the Gargano National Park and the Foresta Umbra, a wooded area popular for walking. Local cuisine focuses on seafood, Puglian olive oil and regional dishes such as orecchiette pasta. Tourist activity is concentrated in the summer months, with a quieter atmosphere for the rest of the year. The town also serves as a convenient base for exploring the Gargano coastline and the Tremiti Islands, which are accessible by boat.
