Telese Terme

Telese Terme is a small spa town in the province of Benevento, in the Campania region, known since the 19th century for its sulphurous and salso-bromo-iodic waters. The thermal establishment, set within a wooded park, remains the town's main attraction, drawing visitors for wellness treatments and thermal cures. Nearby, Lake Telese, formed by a karst collapse following a medieval earthquake, provides a peaceful natural setting ideal for walking. The town also preserves remains of the ancient Roman settlement of Telesia, including the ruins of an amphitheatre still visible today. Its modest historic centre blends Liberty-style buildings with traditional rural architecture typical of the Sannio area. The surrounding hilly, agricultural landscape produces well-regarded wines such as Falanghina del Sannio, and allows for easy trips to nearby Benevento, a town rich in Lombard and Roman heritage. The mild Mediterranean climate, with warm, dry summers, makes spring and autumn particularly pleasant times to visit.
