Santiago de la Ribera

Santiago de la Ribera is a seaside resort on the shores of the Mar Menor, in the Murcia region, part of the municipality of San Javier. It borders this shallow, calm and mild saltwater lagoon, which is particularly well suited to family bathing and water sports such as sailing, paddleboarding and kitesurfing. The palm-lined seafront promenade is ideal for strolling, offering views across to La Manga and the surrounding hills. The town is home to a well-regarded sailing club and enjoys mild weather for much of the year, making it a popular spot in both summer and autumn. Along the beachfront promenade, a smoothie stall is a popular stop for a refreshing drink after a swim in the Mar Menor. The surrounding area also gives access to the lagoon's well-known therapeutic mud, a long-standing local tradition. The marina, waterfront terraces and small local shops round out the offering of this modest town geared towards family-friendly coastal tourism, just a short drive from Murcia's regional airport.
