Puerto de Mazarrón

Puerto de Mazarrón is a coastal resort town on the Murcia Region shoreline in south-eastern Spain, forming part of the municipality of Mazarrón. Originally a fishing village, it retains an active harbour where fishing boats and pleasure craft moor side by side, lined by a lively seafront promenade with restaurants specialising in seafood. Sandy beaches such as Playa de la Reya, Playa Grande and Playa de la Isla offer the calm waters typical of the Mediterranean, popular for swimming and watersports. Nearby, the hamlet of Bolnuevo is known for its sandstone rock formations shaped by wind erosion, a distinctive natural site locally nicknamed the “Enchanted City”. The wider area also bears traces of a significant mining past, with the former Sierra Minera de Mazarrón now recognised as a site of heritage interest. The mild, sunny climate for much of the year supports seaside tourism from spring through autumn. The town of Mazarrón, a short distance inland, is home to the Castle of the Vélez family, a reminder of the area's medieval history.
