Ischia Ponte

Ischia Ponte is a historic district of the town of Ischia, on the island of the same name in the Gulf of Naples, Campania. Its name comes from the 15th-century bridge linking the village to the Castello Aragonese, a fortress built on a rocky islet that overlooks the bay and remains the area's main architectural landmark. The district retains the character of a fishing village, with narrow lanes, colourful houses and a small harbour still used by traditional boats. Several sand and pebble beaches can be found nearby, including one close to the castle, alongside numerous restaurants specialising in seafood and Campanian cuisine. The area enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate, well suited to seaside stays from spring through autumn. Ischia Ponte also lies near the thermal spa facilities that have made the island renowned since antiquity, drawing on naturally hot volcanic springs. Walking between the old town and the castle gives a genuine sense of local life, quieter than the busier resort atmosphere found a few kilometres away in Ischia Porto.
