Ischia

Ischia is the largest island in the Gulf of Naples, in the Tyrrhenian Sea, reachable by ferry or hydrofoil from Naples or Pozzuoli. The island is well known for its thermal springs and volcanic waters, which feed numerous spa parks such as the Poseidon Gardens in Forio and Negombo Park in Lacco Ameno. The Aragonese Castle, a medieval fortress linked to Ischia Ponte by a causeway, overlooks the main town and ranks among the island's most visited sites. The village of Sant'Angelo, a former fishing hamlet with pedestrian-only lanes, charms visitors with its unspoilt atmosphere and sheltered bay. The island also boasts varied beaches, from the volcanic sands of Maronti to quieter coves, along with Mount Epomeo, its highest point, offering sweeping views across the gulf. Local cuisine features rabbit cooked Ischia-style, a traditional dish, alongside white wines grown on the volcanic slopes.
