St Feliu de Guíxols

Sant Feliu de Guíxols is a coastal town on the Costa Brava, in the province of Girona, Catalonia. A former fishing port and historic centre of the cork industry, it retains a heritage shaped by this trade, notably displayed at the Museu del Suro. The historic core is centred on the Monestir de Sant Feliu, a former Benedictine abbey of which the Porta Ferrada, a distinctive Romanesque archway, still stands. The Passeig del Mar, lined with modernist-style buildings, runs along the seafront and marina. Each summer, the town hosts the Festival de Porta Ferrada, one of Catalonia's longest-running music and performing arts festivals. The Camí de Ronda coastal path allows visitors to walk to the nearby village of S'Agaró and its Sant Pol beach, known for its calm waters. The Mediterranean climate, rocky coves and sandy beaches draw visitors during the summer months. Local cuisine focuses on seafood, particularly in the restaurants along the seafront and harbour district.
