Praiano

Praiano is a small village on the Amalfi Coast, in the province of Salerno, Campania, lying between Positano and Amalfi. Perched on cliffs above the Tyrrhenian Sea, it retains the character of a former fishing village and is generally quieter than its better-known neighbours. The Church of San Gennaro, notable for its colourful majolica-tiled dome, along with the Church of San Luca Evangelista, are among the village's architectural landmarks. The area gives access to small coves such as Marina di Praia and Gavitella beach, both popular for swimming and offering open views out to sea, occasionally stretching as far as the island of Capri on clear days. Praiano also serves as a starting point for the Sentiero degli Dei, a well-known hiking trail that runs along the upper reaches of the Amalfi Coast. The SS163 Amalfitana road connects the village to neighbouring towns, making it straightforward to reach Positano or Amalfi. The wider region is known for lemon cultivation, used locally to produce limoncello, and for a cuisine built around seafood. The Mediterranean climate, mild for much of the year, draws most visitors between spring and autumn.
