Fourques

Fourques is a village in the Gard department, on the banks of the Rhône, right on the border with the Bouches-du-Rhône region and close to both Arles and Beaucaire. Set within the Rhône plain, this small community enjoys a strategic location on the doorstep of the Camargue, providing easy access to its distinctive wetlands, lagoons and rice fields. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and mild winters, makes outdoor activities appealing for much of the year. Nearby, visitors can explore the Roman and medieval heritage of Arles, a UNESCO World Heritage site, as well as Beaucaire and its castle. The neighbouring Camargue also offers opportunities for wildlife watching, including flamingos and the region's famous white horses, along with walking or cycling routes following the Rhône.
