Paestum

Paestum, located in the province of Salerno in Campania, is internationally known for its major archaeological site, among the best preserved in Magna Graecia. Visitors can admire three remarkably intact Doric temples, including the Temple of Neptune and the Basilica, alongside the remains of the ancient city founded by Greek settlers in the 6th century BC. The nearby archaeological museum houses the famous Tomb of the Diver, a unique example of figurative Greek funerary painting discovered in Italy. Beyond its ancient heritage, the surrounding area is renowned for producing buffalo mozzarella, a signature local dairy speciality. Paestum also boasts a stretch of Tyrrhenian coastline with long, fine sandy beaches, popular during the summer months, offering an appealing mix of seaside relaxation and cultural discovery.
