Mola di Bari

Mola di Bari is a small coastal town in the Puglia region, in the province of Bari, southern Italy. Its historic centre, built around a still-active fishing harbour, features a 15th-century Angevin-Aragonese castle standing directly on the Adriatic shoreline. The whitewashed lanes of the old town lead to the Chiesa Matrice, the town's main religious building, as well as several small squares typical of Puglian architecture. Mola di Bari is also known for its cherry production, grown in the surrounding countryside and sold under a local designation. The coastline combines rocky stretches with small beaches, popular with both residents and passing visitors. Traditional fishing remains part of daily life here, particularly visible when boats return in the late afternoon, and several restaurants in town specialise in seafood dishes. Located around fifteen kilometres south of Bari, Mola di Bari makes a convenient base for exploring the region while avoiding the heavier tourist crowds found in nearby towns such as Polignano a Mare.
