Cuers

Cuers is a town in the Var department, nestled in the hinterland between the Provence Verte region and the Mediterranean coast, around twenty kilometres from Toulon and Hyères. The village, overlooked by the remains of its medieval castle and the Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul church, retains a typically Provençal old town, with narrow lanes and plane-tree-shaded squares. Cuers is known for its wine-growing heritage, falling within the Côtes de Provence appellation, with several estates and cellars open to visitors for tastings. The traditional market, which brings the town centre to life, offers a chance to discover local produce, from olive oil to cheeses and seasonal fruit. The surrounding countryside provides excellent walking opportunities, particularly towards the Sainte-Baume massif or the nearby hills, while the coast is within easy reach for day trips to the beaches of the Var littoral and the Hyères islands. The mild, sunny Mediterranean climate favours outdoor activities for much of the year. Cuers therefore makes an appealing base for exploring the Var, combining heritage, gastronomy and nature, in a setting still largely untouched by mass tourism.
