Capo Vaticano

Capo Vaticano is a rocky headland on the Tyrrhenian coast, within the municipality of Ricadi, in the province of Vibo Valentia, Calabria. The area is known for its white sandy beaches and turquoise waters, particularly at Grotticelle and Tono, framed by granite cliffs. The Capo Vaticano lighthouse, set on the promontory, offers sweeping views over the Tyrrhenian Sea and, on clear days, of the Aeolian Islands, including Stromboli with its active volcano. The area is well suited to swimming, diving and coastal walking, with paths connecting various coves and inlets. The surroundings combine protected natural zones with small villages typical of the Calabrian coastline. Local cuisine highlights seafood alongside regional specialities such as ’nduja, cured meats and Calabrian cheeses. The Mediterranean climate, hot and dry in summer, supports a tourist season concentrated between June and September. Capo Vaticano remains a predominantly natural rather than urban destination, valued for its coastal scenery and relatively quiet atmosphere compared with more crowded Italian seaside resorts.
