Cléden Cap Sizun

Cléden-Cap-Sizun is a village in Finistère, located at the tip of the Cap Sizun peninsula, between Audierne and the Pointe du Raz. Its territory extends to the Pointe du Van, a rocky headland offering sweeping views over the Baie des Trépassés and the open sea. The GR34 coastal footpath runs through the parish, tracing steep cliffs and windswept heathland typical of this Breton headland. The Saint-They chapel, perched on the Pointe du Van, is a well-known landmark for walkers. The setting remains wild and largely undeveloped, with traditional stone-built Breton housing. Coastal fishing and shellfish farming are among the local activities, linked to the nearby harbour of Audierne. Small coves and beaches reached via the coastal paths allow for seasonal swimming, in the characteristically cool waters of this exposed tip of Finistère. The oceanic climate, windy and humid, shapes a landscape of heather and gorse. The village suits stays centred on walking, coastal birdwatching and exploring an area still relatively untouched by mass tourism, just a short distance from the Pointe du Raz.
