Marina di Modica

Marina di Modica is a small seaside resort in south-eastern Sicily, in the province of Ragusa, forming part of the coastal area administered by the town of Modica. It features a fine sandy beach along the Mediterranean coast, popular for swimming during the summer months. Nearby lies the mouth of the Irminio river, protected as a nature reserve, offering pleasant walking trails and opportunities to observe local wildlife. The town serves as a convenient base for exploring the Baroque towns of the Val di Noto, a UNESCO World Heritage site, including Modica itself, renowned for its architecture and its traditional cold-processed chocolate, a local speciality with protected status. The nearby towns of Scicli and Pozzallo are also easily reached. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers, draws visitors mainly between June and September.
