Cazals

Cazals is a village in the Lot département, in the Occitanie region, located in the Quercy area a few kilometres from Gourdon and about thirty minutes from Cahors. The village retains an arcaded square with its old covered market hall, a legacy of its bastide origins, along with picturesque lanes typical of the Quercy Blanc villages. A landscaped lake on the outskirts offers supervised swimming in season, pedal boats and picnic areas, making it a popular local spot for families. The commune enjoys a green, rural setting between valleys and limestone plateaux, ideal for walking or cycling towards neighbouring villages. A weekly market brings the town centre to life and is a good opportunity to sample local Lot produce such as walnuts, foie gras and goat's cheese. Cazals lies within reasonable reach of some of the department's major attractions, including Rocamadour, Saint-Cirq-Lapopie and the Lot valley, making it a convenient base for exploring the wider region. The climate is temperate continental, with warm, dry summers well suited to outdoor activities.
