Cabris

Perched on a hillside in the Alpes-Maritimes, just a few kilometres from Grasse, Cabris is listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France. The village offers sweeping views over the valley and Lake Saint-Cassien, with local tradition holding that on a clear day the horizon stretches as far as Corsica. Its narrow lanes, lined with stone houses and Provençal façades, lead up to the ruins of a medieval castle, a favoured vantage point for taking in the surrounding countryside. The village also attracted several writers and artists during the 20th century, including André Gide, drawn by its tranquillity and light. Local life remains shaped by craft workshops, small art galleries and independent shops. Cabris makes a convenient base for exploring the Grasse area, well known for its flower and perfume industry, as well as for reaching the Loup gorges and other perched villages nearby. With a Mediterranean climate of hot, dry summers and mild winters, the area is well suited to walking and countryside outings throughout the year, set within an unspoilt Provençal landscape.
