Selva

Selva is a municipality in northern Majorca, in Spain's Balearic Islands, set at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range. Surrounded by orange, lemon and olive groves, the village retains a distinctly rural Majorcan character, with narrow lanes and traditional stone houses. The parish church of Sant Llorenç overlooks the historic centre, and Selva is also home to the Balearic Museum of Natural Sciences, dedicated to the island's flora and fauna. The municipality includes the nearby hamlet of Caimari, known for olive oil production and a popular starting point for hikers exploring the trails of the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage site, including routes towards Lluc monastery. The surrounding countryside is well suited to walking, cycling and discovering the island's traditional agricultural heritage. A Mediterranean climate, with hot dry summers and mild winters, makes the area pleasant to visit throughout the year. Selva offers a quiet base for exploring inland Majorca, away from the busier coastal resorts, while remaining within easy reach of Palma and the beaches of the island's northern coast.
