Port Sóller

Port Sóller is a natural, horseshoe-shaped bay on the north-west coast of Majorca, in the Balearic Islands, a few kilometres from the town of Sóller, to which it is connected by a historic wooden tram that has been running since the early twentieth century. The village relies mainly on tourism and fishing, with a seafront lined with restaurants serving fresh fish and local specialities such as sobrassada and oranges from the Sóller valley, well known for its citrus orchards. The port's sandy beach, sheltered within the bay, offers generally calm waters, popular for swimming and watersports such as kayaking and sailing. The lighthouse at Punta de sa Creu, at the mouth of the bay, is a favoured spot for watching the sunset. The area also serves as a starting point for hikes into the Serra de Tramuntana, a mountain range recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering coastal paths and views over the Mediterranean. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers, draws the largest number of visitors between April and October.
