Porreres

Porreres is a town in central Mallorca, within the agricultural Pla de Mallorca region, around fifteen kilometres from the island's east coast. The village retains a distinctly rural character, surrounded by almond, apricot and vine fields that have shaped its reputation for wine production, with several local bodegas making wines under the Vi de la Terra Mallorca designation. The historic centre, built around the parish church of Nostra Senyora de les Neus, showcases traditional Mallorcan architecture with stone houses and quiet lanes. Nearby stands the Monti-sion hermitage, set on a hilltop with sweeping views over the surrounding plain, a popular spot for a peaceful walk and a good vantage point. The town makes a fitting base for exploring Mallorca's inland countryside, away from the busier coastal resorts, while still being within reasonable reach of south-eastern beaches such as Cala d'Or or Porto Colom. The Mediterranean climate, with hot dry summers and mild winters, supports outdoor activities year-round, particularly walking and cycling along the gently rolling roads of the Pla.
