Marratxi

Marratxi is a municipality in Majorca, in Spain's Balearic Islands, located a few kilometres east of Palma, between the capital and Son Sant Joan Airport. The area brings together several village centres, including Pòrtol and Sa Cabaneta, known for their tradition of handmade pottery, still visible in local workshops today. The municipality is characterised by a typical inland Majorcan landscape, combining residential areas, cultivated fields and a few protected natural spaces, such as the Ses Fontanelles wetland. Its central location makes it a convenient base for exploring Palma, with its beaches and historic centre, as well as the seaside resorts along the neighbouring bay. The Mediterranean climate brings hot, dry summers and mild winters, making it suitable for visits throughout the year. Marratxi retains a more authentic, less touristy character than the coast, with local life centred around its markets and traditional festivities. Its proximity to the airport and main road links also makes it a practical logistical base for exploring the whole island of Majorca.
