Capdepera

Capdepera is a town in north-eastern Majorca, in Spain's Balearic Islands, combining a historic hilltop settlement with a stretch of Mediterranean coastline. The town is dominated by its 14th-century medieval castle, encircled by well-preserved fortified walls, which offers wide views over the bay and surrounding countryside. The municipality extends to the resort of Cala Ratjada, known for its working fishing harbour and the lighthouse marking the island's eastern tip. Nearby, several coves and beaches are popular with visitors, including Cala Agulla and Cala Mesquida, both fringed by pine woods and dunes, alongside coastal footpaths suited to walking. The local economy has traditionally relied on fishing, agriculture and seasonal tourism, with a weekly market held in the town centre. The Mediterranean climate, bringing hot, dry summers and mild winters, draws visitors mainly between April and October. Altogether, the area blends architectural heritage, unspoilt natural scenery and a relaxed seaside atmosphere, making it a representative slice of Majorca's coastline, somewhat quieter than the island's busiest tourist hubs.
