Can Picafort

Can Picafort is a coastal resort on the north of Mallorca, part of the municipality of Santa Margalida, situated along the Bay of Alcúdia. It developed mainly from the 1960s and 1970s onwards around a long, roughly five-kilometre stretch of fine sandy beach with shallow waters, making it especially popular with families. The seafront promenade is lined with hotels, flats, and numerous restaurants and bars serving both international and Spanish fare. The town is a convenient base for exploring the S'Albufera de Mallorca Natural Park, a protected wetland well known for birdwatching, as well as for visiting the historic town of Alcúdia, noted for its medieval walls and the Roman ruins of Pol·lèntia. Water-based activities such as kayak and pedalo hire, along with boat trips along the coastline, are widely available. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers, supports a tourist season running from May to October. Overall, Can Picafort remains primarily a seaside destination geared towards relaxation and family holidays rather than cultural sightseeing.
