Cardedu

Cardedu is a small municipality on the eastern coast of Sardinia, located in the historic region of Ogliastra, between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the rugged inland mountains typical of the island. The area stretches along a still unspoilt coastline, offering several fine sandy beaches with turquoise waters, valued for swimming and their relative tranquillity compared with Sardinia's more touristic resorts. The municipal territory combines coastal stretches with rural land, where farming and pastoral activity remain part of everyday life, characteristic of the Ogliastra region. Cardedu makes a convenient base for exploring nearby villages such as Tertenia and Bari Sardo, as well as the mountainous landscapes of the Supramonte further north. Local cuisine highlights seafood alongside traditional Sardinian pastoral products, such as pecorino cheese and rustic breads. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers, supports a seasonal tourism centred on the sea and outdoor life.
