Cala Figuera

Cala Figuera is a fishing village on the south-eastern coast of Mallorca, within the municipality of Santanyí, close to the rugged Migjorn coastline known for its rocky coves. The village is built around a long, narrow inlet that forms a natural harbour, where traditional wooden fishing boats (llaüts) are moored alongside small whitewashed boathouses. Unlike many Mallorcan resorts, Cala Figuera has no sandy beach of its own; those wanting to swim usually head to the nearby beaches of Cala Santanyí or Cala Mondragó, a short drive away. The village has largely avoided large-scale hotel development, retaining the low-key feel of a working fishing port. Restaurants along the quayside serve fresh seafood and traditional Mallorcan dishes. A coastal footpath follows the cliffs surrounding the inlet, offering views over the Mediterranean that are particularly popular at sunset. The wider area enjoys the typical Balearic Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and mild winters, making it a quieter alternative to the busier resorts elsewhere on the island.
