Cannigione

Cannigione is a coastal village within the municipality of Arzachena, in the Gallura region of north-eastern Sardinia, situated on the shores of the Gulf of Arzachena. Originally a fishing settlement, it has developed into a seaside resort thanks to its sheltered position facing the Costa Smeralda, serving as a more affordable gateway to that renowned coastline. The seafront is lined with a lively marina accommodating numerous boats, along with restaurants serving fish and seafood dishes typical of Sardinian cuisine. The surrounding landscape features pink granite rock formations shaped by erosion, along with coves and pale sandy beaches reachable by car or boat, including those towards Liscia di Vacca and Baja Sardinia. The Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers, makes the area well suited to water-based activities such as sailing, diving and boat trips to the nearby La Maddalena archipelago. Cannigione retains a more genuine, low-key atmosphere compared with neighbouring resorts, while still offering convenient access to the tourist amenities of the wider region.
