Porto Pollo

Porto Pollo is a small seaside resort in northern Sardinia, part of the municipality of Palau in the Gallura region. It sits on a sandy isthmus separating two bays, with shallow, turquoise waters that are popular for family swimming. The area is internationally known for windsurfing and kitesurfing, thanks to steady winds (the Mistral and Tramontana) that blow for much of the year; several sailing schools and watersports centres operate here. From the beach, views extend across to the La Maddalena archipelago, including Spargi island, visible on clear days. The surrounding countryside remains largely undeveloped, covered in typical Mediterranean scrubland, with rocky coves reachable on foot or by boat. The nearby village of Palau, just a few kilometres away, offers shops, restaurants and ferry connections to the archipelago. The region enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and mild winters, making outdoor activities possible for much of the year. Porto Pollo remains a modest but well-regarded destination among watersports enthusiasts.
