Marina di Sorso

Marina di Sorso is a coastal locality in north-western Sardinia, within the province of Sassari, overlooking the Gulf of Asinara. It is best known for Platamona beach, a long sandy stretch running for several kilometres and one of the most popular beaches in the area during the summer months. A sizeable pine forest lines part of the coastline, providing shade and pleasant walking areas favoured by families. The village itself retains a quiet, residential character, with a modest selection of shops, restaurants and bars catering mainly to summer visitors. Its proximity to Sassari, the provincial capital, makes it easy to reach more urban cultural and historical sites, while the coast offers direct access to the Tyrrhenian Sea. Sardinia's typical Mediterranean climate brings hot, dry summers, ideal for swimming and watersports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing, practised along certain stretches of the shore. Outside the peak season, the area returns to a slower pace, appreciated for coastal walks and the surrounding natural scenery of dunes, pine woods and sea views.
